Religion is just a place holder for things we don't yet understand. As soon as
science finds an answer the religious view is tossed like yesterday's trash.
Sadly, not all the universe's secrets will be discovered anytime soon and
religion will keep making new theories to refute science's logic and reasoning.
The main difference is science analyses, tests and proves its theories whereas
religion "believes" their theories are true. It also doesn't surprise
me that "believe" and "guess" are synonymous.
Basically I'll sum it up with this. When I see a religious arguement all I get
out of it is the following: Link
EDIT: ooo, ooo I wanna answer this one.
Quote: Second, I want to ask
Atheists, if you're dead, you'll be "gone". Nothing anymore cuz the
brain stop working, like you said. Okay, if you die tomorrow, and suddenly you
realize you're dead, which means you know you're dead. And what will be of your
perception? Just think it happened suddenly. I want your
opinion.
Ok here we go...
First we have to start at I'm dying, my brain begins sending of pulses of
electricity to all my senses because it is trying to survive. By sending the
pulses it is trying by instinct to escape. These pulses cause my senses to go
crazy, making me see flashing light before my eyes, hear a high pitch ring,
tingling all over my body. Most likely my brain is starved for oxygen by this
point and rational thought is not possible. My brain finally runs out of energy
and begins shutting down organs, my heart being one of them. I am unconcious as
if i was put under before a surgery. Dreams don't occur because my brain has
stopped functioning to try and conserve energy. My brain will be alive for
another 15 minutes however it cannot do anything to avoid death.
Now I get to your question. First I do not know I am dead because my brain has
ceased to function. I don't feel anything, I don't see anything, I don't hear
anything. My perception is nothing, as I said before my brain has ceased to
function. If it was sudden enough, as in my brain was destroyed completely it
would not survive for the additional 15 minutes so I couldn't think anything
anyways.
Now it's my turn to ask you a question. Before being born and after dying can be
said to be the same. The molecules exist but their is no interaction between
them to form active cells or life, hense not being alive. I see you are 16 so
you were not alive in 1986, like you will most likely not be alive 150 years
from now. Now here's the question, What were you thinking in 1986, choose any
day of the year. I just want to know what you were thinking or rather "And
what will be of your perception?" at that time. "I want your
opinion".

I doubt they are sexually active,
no one would be saying they only want virgins if they weren't. Religion has a
lot to do with the facination with virginity, back when the outdated text called
the bible was published women were basically off-spring production centers. That
view's changed for most people, but some "devout" believers still go
by 2000 year old ideas.

don't understand how a guy can have sex with whoever he wants with as many
people as he wants and that doesn't make him any less of a man. He is actually
thought of a cool for that fact. But if a girl sleeps with more then one person
in her whole life, that makes her a whore!
I see that as an
over-exaggeration, if a girl is going around getting all the sex she can from
anything with a penis I'd consider that a whore. I'd also consider a guy doing
the same thing a whore too. Of course, it is a stupid generalization in society
but there are many others also. If a guy doesn't pay for a date's
dinner/movie/whatever, he's cheap. Just saying it goes both way, although I
agree on the part where I think the generalization shouldn't exist.
Quote by kokuyubtw, Ephix, how do you get
along with this then? maybe, can you share with us , as we all know , society at
this days dissapprove with such stuff....
Yea, I got picked
on a lot at school because I was quiet and didn't retaliate. I eventually got
depressed and at one point thought of killing myself(I was taking some medicine
at the time that had a side effect of messing with hormones).
University/college and the real world working environment are a lot different
than high school though. I currently go to university and there are so many
people there from all over the country. People are a lot more mature and
accepting. So since I graduated I haven't been teased by anyone at school and
I've become more outgoing and able to participate in social activities.
Quote by kokuyui discovered his 'hidden'

Personally I
feel relieved if anyone finds out something about me and accepts it. Most of the
time I'm too afraid to tell anyone because of what they might think of me. I
think it's a good thing that you know about it and that you accept that he is
like that and you have no problems with it.
Quote by kokuyuperhaps, i can sum up that
he usually express this opposite attitude privately because he still acts like
any other boys
I also tend to do the samething, I will fake
enjoying something to fit into a group and most of the time I end up enjoying it
just because I get to be part of the group. Other times I just hide all emotion
I have, people usually ask if I'm sad but it's just that I've shut everything in
because I'm uncomfortable.
Quote by kokuyunevertheless, i'm surprised
he doesn't harbor any sense of hatred towards those peers & not depressed
even.
When I was teased in highschool I usually blamed myself
for getting teased and not being able to retaliate. At one point I was actually
physically beaten up and locked my emotions in like I said above. By the time I
got home I was so upset I demolished a wall in my house with my fist. Needless
to say my parents figured out there was a problem and I told them about it and
the bully was actually transfered to another school. Also I wouldn't completely
be surprised if he was actually depressed and just doesn't tell you. I was
depressed for a long time, eventually I got a stress related ulcer at the age of
15.
Still I think the best option if things get out of control, as in he becomes
severely depressed, he should see a psychiatrist. Even a school counselor or
doctor would be better than nothing
Quote by DarkIngramAccordingly, it
took a long time for genetic defects to become so numerous and so grouped in
family lines that it became dangerous to the offspring for close relatives to
marry. Even Abraham, some 2,000 years after the creation of Adam, married his
half sister. (Genesis 20:12) Not until God gave the Mosaic law (about 500 years
later) did He prohibit close family marriage unions among the people of Israel.
(Leviticus 18:6-18)
So, essentially you are acknowledging the
existance of evolution over time? Hmm...
If it gets to be a big problem he should see a psychiatrist. If he becomes
depressed and angry it will end up causing large problems in his life. I'm
guessing with these 'problems' he doesn't have too many friends in his social
circle and tries to avoid social situations (at least I do, don't really know
why). There are treatments and even medications to help become what he wants to
be as a person.
Quote by kokuyu ... He does have qualities
of a guy... twisting his hair ... cupping his cheeks ... sitting cross-legged in
woman's way... On the other way he did admitted he wished to be a woman, but at
the same time wanted to remain a man.
To tell you the truth
that sounds a lot like me, I actually had my legs crossed as I was reading
this... I've never thought of it as a problem before though. Now that I think of
it there are lots of other little things I do that would probably be girlish,
some of which are quite personal. I'm heterosexual and I have no problems
justifying that even with some girlish querks I have. I guess that must be why I
really don't have a problem with it.
1. My friend was driving, me and 3 other friends in the other seats. I was in
the back seat driver side. On an on-ramp to the free way my friend lost control
and went on to the freeway sideways on the 2 right side tires, as in when i look
out my window I was looking at the sky above oncoming traffic. This was highway
1, the trans-canada highway, frequented by transport trucks and thousands of
vehicles. Luckily however it was lunch time so there was no traffic on the road.
I still don't really like to imagine what getting hit by getting hit by a semi
moving at 90-110km/h with only 3/4 of a foot of door to protect me would feel
like.
2. This one I could possibly claim to have saved my entire family. My dad was
driving this time, he is very safe. He has not been in 1 serious accident in
over 40 years of driving, in fact he works for an insurance company run by the
government so he knows what can happen when you aren't safe on the road, he sees
it everyday at work. Anyways, he was going to pass 3 cars on a 2 lane road (1
lane each way), he pulled out to pass and i saw a car coming about 100 yards
away. I didn't say anything because I thought he was only passing the first car,
but he kept going. I started yelling at him and pointing and whatnot and last
second he saw the car and swived with about 15-20 feet left, missing by maybe 2
or 3 feet. The car was a tan color so it blended in very well with the tall
grass in the background so I can understand him not seeing it. And needless to
say everyone in the car was shaking for the next 30minutes while we rested at a
gas station.
Did a minor change about a year ago, I grew out my hair. From the time I was 5
years old till 19 my hair was always the same, dark dark brown (with no direct
light it looks black), about 1-1.5 inches long, and parted on my left side. It
took a while to grow out but now it is about 3-4 inches long, which looks
considerably better with nearly black hair. I get quite a few comments about it
(even though I don't even comb it lol). Wardrobe changes will be next for me I'm
guessing when I get around to it, mostly looking towards a very casual style of
business suit, sorta like reno from FFIIV:AC (pic here: Reno and Turks
(he's on the right obviously)
I used to be, I've since come to terms with it being inevitable and all that. I
can remember trying to sleep and just thinking of how limited time life really
is. Me, being 21 at the moment, have lived (on average) about 1/3 of my life, if
i'm lucky 1/4 and a very very remote chance 1/5.
I decided when I was about 14 that the whole meaning of life is to use the time
you are given and be happy about it, don't rush things and don't worry about
when it will end. Think of it like going to an amusement park, you have 8 hours
to do all you could possibly imagine. If you rush to get on every ride you can
and always worry about how much time you have left and what you can do in that
time you miss the enjoyment of the rides when the 8 hours is over. Take your
time, enjoy the present, cherish the past, and look forward to the future but
not so much that it overshadows the other two.
As for afterlife and whatever may or may not be there when life ends I prefer
not to make any assumptions, nobody knows what is after death and I think it is
for the better. If I were to think of how death may be I think about how I felt
before being born. I tend to find solice in feeling my past is infinit even know
that it is not, so accordingly I can think of my future in the same way.
If your first time is with someone you love their virginity status isn't going
to effect any part of your decision. And if you are going to say you will never
love anyone who isn't a virgin, first you have a very narrow minded view of love
and second you might as well join the clergy now cause it's going to be like
trying to catching fish in middle of the desert.
Quote by Plunkies It's a known fact that

just devil worship.
Other fun facts:
1. Dinosaurs went extinct because they didn't pray enough.
2. Homosexuality causes volcanos.
3. Global warming is caused by god because he thinks mass production is an
affront to his power.
4. Hurricanes are a direct result of thongs.
5. Auto insurance is completely unnecessary as long as you have a jesus fish on
your car.
Learning is fun!
Oh man, I laughed so hard... I knew there was a reason I only every see those
jesus fishes on 15 year old rust buckets!
And those poor T-rexs... their forearms weren't long enough to clasp their...
claw type appendages together to ask God to bless their daily helping of
dino-flesh! Why God!~... Why did you not give the T-rexs long enough arms to
worship you?! And then you had to go drop a big rock on their heads for
something they could nothing about!~
I think there is a right and wrong like bweb says but there is a degree to how
right and how wrong something may be, not neccessarily excuses but different
degrees of right and wrong. We can all agree (I hope) that stealing is wrong and
immoral, but would the death penality be a suitable punishment for it? It may
have been at some point, but thats what the rest of the post will explain in
changing morals. All of those right and wrong are dependent on the era and
culture, it is human nature to take what is best for the human race to be moral
and this can change over time. Take a few examples:
If you have a child and he/she is mentally handicapped, is it moral to sterilize
them? stop them from reproducing without sterilization? Are those two options
any different? What is best for the human race is to do one of those so more
lives (their children) are affected by this mental handicap.
Human nature tells us many thing, things we are born with the knowledge of that
are rarely differing between anyone in the human race. Killing another human
being is almost absolutely immoral because it would be removing one of our own
race and potentially endagering our survival as a race. There are instances
where killing is made moral also; suicide missions for religions for one can be
seen as a change from "what is best for the race" to "what is
best for my religion/culture/people". Euthanasia is another killing that is
at some form of midpoint between moral and immoral, to take away someone's
suffering seems like the right thing to do, but you are going against the moral
to not kill other humans. The death penalty is also at a midpoint between moral
and immoral; it is a form of revenge.
Revenge is also part of human nature that directly links to fairness. You can
see fairness being played in children and a very young age. Without neccessarily
being thought that others have needs and wants too, children will instictively
share or trade so that all in the group have equal portions. Revenge is a
function to counter act anyone who is not being fair. Generally it can get
violent and may involve all who approve of fairness siding against the one being
unfair.
All these hardcoded morals have been with humans for a very long time (I'm not
going to debate how long, it's not the place for it) and they still apply today.
Some new morals have been created since the primitive hardcoded ones; morals
such as marriage. I see marriage being related to fairness, where only the alpha
males of a group would be allowed to reproduce, and inorder to become 'top dog'
violence (perhaps killing) had to come into play. Maybe the morals against
killing other overcame the morals that only the strongest reproduce. Other
morals like heterosexuality derive from primitive morals, obviously if it is not
man+woman the species cannot reproduce and cannot survive. But then you realize
that the species is not in danger; if a small population endulge in
homosexuality, acceptance can be found for something that was once immoral. It
maybe not necessarily be right, but it is not wrong either. Homosexuality I
would consider the grey area, in the view of the species it is not traditional
but it is also not endangering the species, it is at midpoint between moral and
immoral.
I see morals as being relative to what is best for the human species, or what
most benefits it. Morals can overlap like the marriage(fairness) and
alpha-male(species survivability) concepts, and one will overcome the other to
become dominant in the culture. Absolute morals would mean it would always be
important and everyone would agree to it in any era and any culture, but that
cannot be shown true so absolute morals cannot be shown true.

Americans are so arrogant, thinking that everything revolves around the English
language. If you read Nintendo's official site, they say that it will appeal to
people of "ALL languages". And 'wee'? You children need to grow
up.
I don't think it has anything to do with it not being an english word, Nintendo
it self sure as hell isn't an english word but I don't see anyone having a
problem with it. The problem is the name is not an ordinary name, being 1
syllable long and have only 2 characters makes it look simplistic, even
childish. This is where the problem lies, Nintendo is out trying to gather
differing cultures with the name and are killing their chances at differeing age
groups. Not to mention that all the jokes (english ones at least) involve
something to do with urinating (See "Weewee" in an english context).
One I recently saw suggested it the Wii slogan be changed to "Eat, Sleep
and Wii". This really doesn't sound like something I'd want to own.
Really bad name IMO. Not that I'd buy a nintendo product since I perfer to have
a system dedicated to an older audience. Personally I'm waiting on the PS3, at
least they know their audience. Nintendo is, as their name change reason
explains, trying to reach out a broad audience and I really think that will hurt
them in the long run. Anyone other than children <12 years old won't be very
interested compared to the xbox or ps3.
This new motion detection control sounds cool and all, but really, if I want to
simulate fishing why don't I just go
fishing. Or sword fighting, when I was younger I was involved in fencing
classes, it isn't that hard to get involved. Don't even get me started with
baseball.
The real kicker is this guy didn't even hurt HIS ears, he is perfectly fine.
Forget where I read it but it is certainly true, that's why he's not suing for
damages. He is sueing because there isn't warning labels and he and others MAY
damage his hearing in the future. Personally I think This guy should win 1
million dollars for the lawsuit... and then apple should sue him back for 10
million and win claiming the guy doesn't have adequate warning labels on his
forehead stating that he is a complete moron and should not be sold iPods.
So right now *looks out window across the street to gasstation* the price is
$1.08CAN/Liter... this converts into around $3.60US/Gallon. *sadface*. BTW I'm
in western canada.
But if the reason they want to do this is to prove to men/themselves/anyone that
they are a woman and they can do it then that is just wrong. If that were the
case you are wasting everyones time and endagering them for no reason but your
own personal satisfaction. If they are true to what they are doing and do it for
their country/army's cause then by all means have at it. They should expect to
be treated differently, because like it or not, they are different.
Quote by eXDream2K5all I know is the
American school system, and I tell ya what, after wasting 12 years of my life in
it, it sucks.
I'd sorta agree to that, more along the lines of it was dumbed down so much for
all the kids would should just quit and go flip burgers that I had to spend 3/4
of my time ignoring everything. Public school systems are just broken because
they mix the smart with the dumb and the smart suffer and the dumb just don't
care. I like any school system that separates students by levels of achievement,
that way the ones who don't care can not care together and those that do care
can get a better education. Thank god for University/College.

Oh man, I laughed so hard... I knew there was a reason I only every see those jesus fishes on 15 year old rust buckets!
And those poor T-rexs... their forearms weren't long enough to clasp their... claw type appendages together to ask God to bless their daily helping of dino-flesh! Why God!~... Why did you not give the T-rexs long enough arms to worship you?! And then you had to go drop a big rock on their heads for something they could nothing about!~
I think there is a right and wrong like bweb says but there is a degree to how right and how wrong something may be, not neccessarily excuses but different degrees of right and wrong. We can all agree (I hope) that stealing is wrong and immoral, but would the death penality be a suitable punishment for it? It may have been at some point, but thats what the rest of the post will explain in changing morals. All of those right and wrong are dependent on the era and culture, it is human nature to take what is best for the human race to be moral and this can change over time. Take a few examples:
If you have a child and he/she is mentally handicapped, is it moral to sterilize them? stop them from reproducing without sterilization? Are those two options any different? What is best for the human race is to do one of those so more lives (their children) are affected by this mental handicap.
Human nature tells us many thing, things we are born with the knowledge of that are rarely differing between anyone in the human race. Killing another human being is almost absolutely immoral because it would be removing one of our own race and potentially endagering our survival as a race. There are instances where killing is made moral also; suicide missions for religions for one can be seen as a change from "what is best for the race" to "what is best for my religion/culture/people". Euthanasia is another killing that is at some form of midpoint between moral and immoral, to take away someone's suffering seems like the right thing to do, but you are going against the moral to not kill other humans. The death penalty is also at a midpoint between moral and immoral; it is a form of revenge.
Revenge is also part of human nature that directly links to fairness. You can see fairness being played in children and a very young age. Without neccessarily being thought that others have needs and wants too, children will instictively share or trade so that all in the group have equal portions. Revenge is a function to counter act anyone who is not being fair. Generally it can get violent and may involve all who approve of fairness siding against the one being unfair.
All these hardcoded morals have been with humans for a very long time (I'm not going to debate how long, it's not the place for it) and they still apply today. Some new morals have been created since the primitive hardcoded ones; morals such as marriage. I see marriage being related to fairness, where only the alpha males of a group would be allowed to reproduce, and inorder to become 'top dog' violence (perhaps killing) had to come into play. Maybe the morals against killing other overcame the morals that only the strongest reproduce. Other morals like heterosexuality derive from primitive morals, obviously if it is not man+woman the species cannot reproduce and cannot survive. But then you realize that the species is not in danger; if a small population endulge in homosexuality, acceptance can be found for something that was once immoral. It maybe not necessarily be right, but it is not wrong either. Homosexuality I would consider the grey area, in the view of the species it is not traditional but it is also not endangering the species, it is at midpoint between moral and immoral.
I see morals as being relative to what is best for the human species, or what most benefits it. Morals can overlap like the marriage(fairness) and alpha-male(species survivability) concepts, and one will overcome the other to become dominant in the culture. Absolute morals would mean it would always be important and everyone would agree to it in any era and any culture, but that cannot be shown true so absolute morals cannot be shown true.
1. This ain't one of those "take your girlfriend cause she'll be scared and I can protect her" movies. You really have to like the genre to like this movie, if you do you will think it's awesome.
2. If you didn't like 'Saw' because it was too gory, you won't like silent hill.
a. If you vomit at the sight of gore, bring a bag.
b. If barbed wire, 3rd degree burns, man-eating bugs and burning babies aren't your thing... well you know.
3. If you are a devout religious person, I wouldn't suggest it. This will insult your faith and belief. If you are a devout religious person who likes death and blood:
a. Awesome
b. Go see it.
4. Played the game(s)? This one follows the first game's story pretty well.
On a side note, I no longer call the pyramid guy 'the pyramid guy'. To me he is now known as 'Evil Cloud'.
I don't think it has anything to do with it not being an english word, Nintendo it self sure as hell isn't an english word but I don't see anyone having a problem with it. The problem is the name is not an ordinary name, being 1 syllable long and have only 2 characters makes it look simplistic, even childish. This is where the problem lies, Nintendo is out trying to gather differing cultures with the name and are killing their chances at differeing age groups. Not to mention that all the jokes (english ones at least) involve something to do with urinating (See "Weewee" in an english context). One I recently saw suggested it the Wii slogan be changed to "Eat, Sleep and Wii". This really doesn't sound like something I'd want to own.
Really bad name IMO. Not that I'd buy a nintendo product since I perfer to have a system dedicated to an older audience. Personally I'm waiting on the PS3, at least they know their audience. Nintendo is, as their name change reason explains, trying to reach out a broad audience and I really think that will hurt them in the long run. Anyone other than children <12 years old won't be very interested compared to the xbox or ps3.
This new motion detection control sounds cool and all, but really, if I want to simulate fishing why don't I just go fishing. Or sword fighting, when I was younger I was involved in fencing classes, it isn't that hard to get involved. Don't even get me started with baseball.
I would probably be a monk, perhaps a priest... well anyways here's my actual priest from iRO (pay to play).
The real kicker is this guy didn't even hurt HIS ears, he is perfectly fine. Forget where I read it but it is certainly true, that's why he's not suing for damages. He is sueing because there isn't warning labels and he and others MAY damage his hearing in the future. Personally I think This guy should win 1 million dollars for the lawsuit... and then apple should sue him back for 10 million and win claiming the guy doesn't have adequate warning labels on his forehead stating that he is a complete moron and should not be sold iPods.
So right now *looks out window across the street to gasstation* the price is $1.08CAN/Liter... this converts into around $3.60US/Gallon. *sadface*. BTW I'm in western canada.
Sure, everyone has equal rights to die.
But if the reason they want to do this is to prove to men/themselves/anyone that they are a woman and they can do it then that is just wrong. If that were the case you are wasting everyones time and endagering them for no reason but your own personal satisfaction. If they are true to what they are doing and do it for their country/army's cause then by all means have at it. They should expect to be treated differently, because like it or not, they are different.
I'd sorta agree to that, more along the lines of it was dumbed down so much for all the kids would should just quit and go flip burgers that I had to spend 3/4 of my time ignoring everything. Public school systems are just broken because they mix the smart with the dumb and the smart suffer and the dumb just don't care. I like any school system that separates students by levels of achievement, that way the ones who don't care can not care together and those that do care can get a better education. Thank god for University/College.
